Private Boat Trips in Lanzarote: What to Expect on Your First Charter

01/10/2026
There's something about seeing Lanzarote from the water that makes you appreciate it all over again. The volcanic coastline, the little bays, the colour of the sea around Papagayo—it's a different experience from exploring by car.

And you don't need to know anything about boats to enjoy it. On a crewed charter, we take care of the boat and you enjoy the day. Bring your partner, gather a few friends or make it a family outing. If this is your first private boat trip in Lanzarote, here's what you can look forward to.

Starting your day in Puerto Calero

Most of our trips leave from Puerto Calero, where LanzaYachting has been based since 2020. It's a lovely place to start the morning, with cafés overlooking the boats if you fancy arriving early for a coffee.

We'll confirm where to meet when you book; our usual meeting point is Café del Puerto. Once everyone's aboard, you can get comfortable, meet the crew and settle in as we head out of the marina.

Need a lift from your hotel or villa? Ask us about arranging transport when you book, so everything is organised before the day.

A day aboard Ocean Lady

Our Papagayo Cat trips aboard Ocean Lady are a popular choice, especially for families and friends who want to spend a few hours together at sea.

Ocean Lady is a 12-metre catamaran with room for up to 12 guests, looked after by a captain and crew member. Booking her privately means it's just your group aboard with the crew. You can chat, relax and enjoy each other's company without sharing the experience with people you don't know.

We offer two, four and six-hour private catamaran trips. If you're travelling as a couple or in a smaller group, there are also four-hour shared cruises on selected days.

You don't need a special occasion to book, either. Sometimes a day out on the water turns out to be the part of the holiday everyone remembers most.

Where will we go?

Papagayo is one of the places guests ask us about most, and it's easy to see why. Golden beaches sit between rocky headlands, with water that makes you want to get straight in.

Our longer catamaran trips can head towards these beaches in the south of Lanzarote. On shorter outings, we explore closer to Puerto Calero, with coastal options around Playa Quemada and Barranco del Quíquere.

It's worth thinking about how you'd like to spend your time. A shorter cruise gives you a taste of being out at sea, while a longer trip leaves more time to enjoy the journey and a stop at anchor.

If there's somewhere you particularly want to visit, tell us before booking. We'll help you choose the right duration, with the final route depending on the weather and sea conditions.

Time for a swim—or another drink

Once we're anchored and conditions are suitable, you can enjoy the water.

Ocean Lady carries snorkelling equipment, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, so there's more to do than swim. You might fancy a gentle paddle, a look beneath the surface or a first attempt at standing up on a paddleboard.

Of course, staying aboard is equally tempting. Read a few pages, take some photos or sit with a drink and watch everyone else have a go. There's no obligation to join in with every activity.

Lunch with a sea view

Food always seems to taste better after some fresh air and a swim. Local tapas and refreshing drinks are part of our crewed experiences, and we'll confirm exactly what's included in the package you choose.

Tell us about dietary requirements when booking so we can discuss what you need.

Celebrating a birthday or anniversary? We can help arrange personal touches such as a cake, flowers, balloons or your favourite champagne. Just give us some notice.

If you'd prefer a motor yacht, ask us about Ikandi, our 20-metre Sunseeker Predator, available for private charter.

A few things to bring

Swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses and a secure hat are a good start. Bring a light layer for the breeze and consider a waterproof pouch for your phone.

We'll confirm what's provided, including towels and catering, before you travel. If anyone in your group has mobility needs or questions about boarding, please mention them when enquiring.
